Berghaus is known for his works in the field of otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery, and especially facial plastic surgery. == Biography == Berghaus studied human medicine at the Saarland University in Homburg, at the University of Bonn and at the Free University of Berlin from 1970 to 76. He holds a license to practice physician since 1978. In 1981 he was approved to doctor of medicine at the Free University of Berlin. Berghaus spent stays abroad for reconstructive head and neck surgery in Lausanne, Chicago an New York from 1981 to 83. In 1983 he got recognition as a specialist of otorhinolaryngology. Since 1985 he has been a senior physician at the Clinic for Otorhinolaryngology, Steglitz Clinic of the Free University of Berlin. In 1986 Berghaus was habilitated at the Steglitz Clinic of the Free University of Berlin. From 1993 to 2003 he was a director at the department of otorhinolaryngology, face and neck surgery and professor of the department of otorhinolaryngology at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg. He was dean at the medical faculty there in 1994 and pro-dean from 1996 to 98. Since 2003 he is director at the department of Otorhinolaryngology at the Medical Campus of the University of Munich and professor of otorhinolaryngology at the LMU Munich. During his career Berghaus has trained several otorhinolaryngological specialists and supervised a number of habilitations.〔(A.
